Mac daddy

Now if you hadn’t notice that all our kids start with ‘Em’, so we wanted to stick with that.

This verse has been sort of etched in my heart, not long after Emerson was born. Part of it I believe is that Emerson is our rainbow baby 🌈. Our family miscarried last year, just a few months prior to being surprised with this little guy. As I waited to head in, to what would be the first of 2 surgeries for my hand.
*I, in a fit of frustration after finding that my dog had 💩, in the kids bedroom. I attempted to slam our picket door, well let’s just say it slammed me. Within moments I noted the deformity of my left middle finger.
Anyhow, it seemed to be taking a while for the surgeon to come back, but I figured sometimes doctors are running late, I get it. As Dr. Roberts approached he states...Mrs. Calderon your PREGNANT! Huh, please repeat that, because I’m sure I misheard. I mean just 2 weeks prior in the ER the test was negative. Well he was sure, because he even had them repeat.
Well off I went into surgery. Upon returning to the recovery room, Elvin walks in. I’m pregnant...
WHAT? I thought you went to get your finger fixed? Yeah me too, but I’m also with child. Neither one of us was expecting this news, although we do have two older kids, so we know how things work😳

Once again we decided to not find out the gender of the baby. We just prayed for health for me and baby. Although Emmanuel, our eldest had apparently already named and claimed that he was having a baby brother. He had enough of his sister Emelia at this point. It didn’t help that my sister who was expecting was having a boy. So Manny knew his cousin was getting a baby brother. Mia could care less, but she had been seen being sweet to other children who were smaller than her.
God answers prayers because on 06/06/19 @20:23 weighing 8lbs 11oz our handsome baby boy was born. We were elated. Our family

Shaken up

Caution, this post is real, as they all are. However it may make some of you uncomfortable.  Have you every watched Moana? There is a scene where moana is after Maui. Well in the middle of the night as she is voyaging there is a storm, she ask the water to help. She wakes up ship wrecked on an island and is upset, because she believes she is off course. She realizes she landed on the island where Maui has been. Well let me give you a better picture. The disciples sitting in a boat, and there is a bad storm. All the while Jesus is asleep. WHAT! The disciples in fear of drowning awoke Jesus.  “And they went and woke him, saying, "Save us, Lord; we are perishing." And he said to them, "Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?" Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. Make that a combo please

🥶 That is how we are feeling down here in New Orleans. I mean it went from like low 70s to upper 40s. We are not use to this sort of weather. The kids are all bundled up, and I can’t seem to put on enough layers in order to keep warm. Emerson, Ayeya and I are at clinic today. Mac has already had his blood drawn, and we are waiting to get our numbing patch placed. It will hopefully help decrease the pain of the lumbar puncture. Our hope is to get more than 1ml so that some can be sent for flow cytometry again. The thought is that Mac may have a bi-phenotype of leukemia, which means there is a combination rather than one focal type. This also means additional medication may be warranted to get rid of the bad cells.  We are currently waiting for the chemo medications to arrive in order to place the numbing patch. Poor guys, will once again be scrunched like an accordion. There are moments that I am grateful he is still so small that he won’t remember all of this:   ✔️ poking
